BALTIMORE (AP) — Minor league infielder Keiner Delgado was traded from the Yankees to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday as the player to be named in the March 29 deal that brought pitcher JT Brubaker to New York.
The 20-year-old Delgado signed with the Yankees for a $100,000 bonus in 2021 and hit .293 with eight homers, 31 RBUs and 36 stolen bases last season for the Florida Complex League Yankees.
Brubaker, Pittsburgh’s opening-day starter in 2022, missed last season after Tommy John surgery in April 2023 and the 30-year-old right-hander is still recovering. New York also received $500,000 in international signing bonus pool allotment as part of the trade.
